Vihigaon waterfall is a favorite rappelling spot near Nashik & Mumbai. It lies close to Igatpuri town of Nashik district. Ashoka waterfall is the other name of this spot!

Location Address: Vihigaon Village, Near Kasara, Nashik District, Maharashtra (India).

Waterfall Height: 100-120 feet.

Best Time To Visit: July to October is the only fruitful time when you can visit this waterfall. Waterfall has less water current in the rest time of the year.

Also popular by name Ashoka waterfall, it is a quite less famous waterfall. It lies amidst thick forests of Vihigaon village near Igatpuri. The village is just 13 km away from towns of Kasara and Igatpuri. It is a small village where Adivasi tribes live since many centuries. The surroundings of waterfall display splendid natural beauty in months of monsoon. Nowadays, Vihigaon waterfall rappelling is also becoming popular!

The waterfall is 59 km away from Nashik, 115 km away from Mumbai and 202 km away from Pune. Therefore, tourists from these 3 cities can have an easy 1-day picnic to this spot. This waterfall is among the top natural waterfalls in Maharashtra. Lush greenery, splashing waterfall, small streams, bird species and ponds are treat to watch!

Vihigaon Waterfall Rappelling:

The dropdown height of 100+ feet also offer opportunities of Rappelling at the waterfall. Nowadays, many adventure agencies carry our rappelling activities on this waterfall during monsoon months. It gives absolutely thrilling experience while rappelling down from the waterfall! In order to reach the base of the waterfall, you need to do a small trek from a thick forest. Overall, it is a great place to visit for all nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts.

Ashoka waterfall is also the spot where scenes of movie “Asoka” were shot that starred Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor. Vihigaon offers an amazing option to get yourself soaked in nature!

IMPORTANT TOURIST INFORMATION

Timings/ Opening hours of Vihigaon Waterfall: Not applicable. For your safety, please avoid entering into the waterfall during heavy rains and high flood conditions.

Time Required: It is an easy one day trip from Nashik (58 km), Mumbai (115 km) & Pune (202 km).

How To Reach Vihigaon:

  • By Road: The spot is easily accessible from National Highway-3 (Mumbai-Nashik-Agra Highway). While going from Mumbai, take a left turn 7 km ahead of Kasara. From this point, Vihigaon village is just 6 km away.
  • Nearest Railway Station: Igatpuri and Kasara are convenient rail stations to reach Vihigaon waterfall. Both stations lie on a central railway and 13 km away from the village. You can hire private vehicles from the station till the village.
  • Nearest Airport: Nashik airport (60 km) is the closest airport to Ashoka waterfall.

Entry Fee/Ticket Charges: Not applicable. Entry to the waterfall is free and is not governed by any authority.

Accommodation/ Staying Options: Plenty of hotels and resorts are available in the Igatpuri for accommodation purpose. You can choose any of them as per your convenience.

Restaurants Nearby/ Eating Stuff: Sometimes, local people sell food like roasted corn, vada-pav, and tea in the vicinity of Ashoka waterfall. However, it is advisable to carry sufficient food & water.
